Scheme to turn Uckfield offices into flats has been refused
Plans to turn first floor offices in New Town, Uckfield, into two flats have been refused.
Wealden Council said the change of use of 39a High Street, above Cannadines Kitchens and Bathrooms, would result in the loss of existing business premises within a sustainable town centre location.
"No evidence has been submitted to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Local Planning Authority that the premises are no longer required or suitable for such purposes.
"The proposal is therefore considered to represent an unjustified and unacceptable form of development."
Here is our original story about the planning application being submitted:
Offices at New Town, Uckfield, could be turned into flats
Another plan refused
Proposals to change the use of a ground floor shop/office at 218A High Street, Uckfield, to residential have also been refused. Here was our story about that planning application: Uckfield High Street office could be converted for residential use.
