Fresh efforts to change use of Uckfield offices to flats
Fresh efforts are being made to get planning permission to convert offices in New Town, Uckfield, to flats.
Wealden District Council refused permission for the change earlier this year saying it “would result in the loss of existing business premises within a sustainable town centre location”.
The offices are at 39a High Street, above Cannadines Kitchens and Bathrooms.
Detail within the planning application has not changed but this time it is accompanied by a letter from estate agents Lawson Commercial saying the property had been actively marketed but tenants did not want converted office space over a shop, particularly if it hadn’t got parking.
Chris Lawson advised seeking permission to change the use to residential."I am sorry to be somewhat negative but I think this is a realistic appraisal of the situation currently."
The proposal from Marten Properties says the building readily lends itself to change of use to two flats.
One would have a single bedroom with bathroom and kitchen diner.
The second, to the rear, would have two bedrooms and a galleried study area within the existed valuted ceiling.
