Historic pub could be extended

Plans to extend the historic Peacock Inn just outside Uckfield are being considered by Wealden District Council.

The 16th Century pub and restaurant at Shortbridge is proposing to build bed and breakfast accommodation, which would include three-en-suite bedrooms, and a staff rest area at the back of the inn.

The accommodation would be within one detached Sussex cottage-style property on land that at the moment is overgrown and uncultivated.

Any guests using the accommodation would use the existing car park, register in the pub and then make their way through the building and over a footpath to access to the new accommodation.

*Approval has been given by Wealden council to build a two-bedroom home on land adjoining 2A Cuckmere Path, Uckfield.
