Cinema invests in 3D viewing
State-of-the-art 3D viewing comes to the Picture House in Uckfield on Friday.
Cinema owner Kevin Markwick says they have invested about £16,000 in the 'highest quality 3D equipment available' and it will be used for the first time for the new Disney Pixar adventure 'Up'.
Special glasses, which cost about £40 a pair, will be used by viewers and cannot be compared to the old red and green disposable glasses which have been used in the past.
'I've spent a lot of time looking at the different equipment available for 3D viewing and think this, the Xpand system, is by far the best,' said Mr Markwick.
Only another two cinemas in the UK are using Xpand but it is popular in Europe and rolling out in America. 'It gives the brightest, cleanest picture,' said Mr Markwick.
He said 'Up' was the ideal film to see in 3D. It is about a man who has spent his life dreaming of exploring the globe and eventually tethers thousands of helium balloons to his home and lifts off on a journey to South America.
An additional £1.50 is being added to the price of tickets for 3D viewing. For adults they will be £8.30 each, for children £6.50 and for pensioners £7.
