Uckfield Festival programme now available from shops and pubs
The 2010 Uckfield Festival programme is now available from shops and pubs around town.
The festival begins on Friday, July 9, with the launch of an art trail and runs until Sunday, 18, when there is a last night dance party.
One of the major events is the Big Day on the first Saturday of the festival when children from six primary schools will join students from Uckfield Community Technology College to parade through town.
They have been making sticklebacks, kingfishers and water voles and will be carrying them to reflect the theme of The River. Also there will be drummers from the college carnival group Spiritus. The procession begins at the college at 1.30pm.
There will be 12 hours of dance at Dance Explosion on Saturday, July 17. Events, including belly, salsa and street dancing, will be held in two venues, the Civic Centre and Cardale Hall next to Holy Cross Church in Belmont Road.
There will be organised walks, a dramatised reading of the life and work of photographer and surrealist Lee Miller and a different sound each evening at the Festival Club, including chance to join in a jam session with the Uckfield Concert Brass Band.
