Townspeople plan protest at Uckfield doctors' surgery

Townspeople who are concerned about circumstances surrounding the departure of Dr Jim Oliver from the Meads Surgery, Uckfield, are planning a demonstration on Saturday.

Members of the Save Dr Oliver Facebook group are talking about meeting outside the surgery at 8.30am with placards.

Testimonials to the work of Dr Oliver are building up on the page which had 555 members at about 12.30pm today.

Wealden MP Charles Hendry told UckfieldNews.com: "I am concerned by the reports I have heard about Dr Oliver and I am waiting for more information on this issue."

The Meads Surgery refused to comment on the situation earlier this week.

The East Sussex Downs and Weald PCT said it was an internal practice matter but they were working closely with the surgery to ensure patients could continue to get an appointment to see a GP in a timely manner and that patient care remained unaffected.
