Puppies Laurel and Hardy meet Uckfield website designer

Life is good for puppies Laurel and Hardy now they are settling into a new temporary home at a Sussex animal sanctuary.

These are happy days too for Mark Vaesen who is pictured holding the energetic bundles of fun because his Uckfield company has just been awarded a contract to design and develop a new website for the charity which is caring for the pups.

Laurel and Hardy had a tough start in life but they are enjoying themselves now that Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, at Ringmer, has taken over their care and the sanctuary’s website could play a big part in finding them a permanent, happy home.

Mark, managing director of Blue Planet Internet Solutions, says one of the most popular sections of the current website is the one for re-homing dogs – you can see Laurel and Hardy pictured there at the moment – and a big part of his role is to design a new system which can easily be used and updated by centre staff.

Along with a re-homing database Blue Planet will work on an online shop, events calendar and booking system, education area for teachers and children and a section for sponsorship and donations – the site is an important fund-raising tool for the charity.

“We are very pleased to have won this contract which enables us to bring together in one website features that are used in different combinations by other clients to promote their businesses,” said Mark.

There has been a spin-off too for Mark’s children Holly, seven, and Emily, four, who enjoyed meeting Laurel and Hardy when Mark had his picture taken.

Mark’s mother Daphne, who is, coincidentally, a volunteer dog walker at Raystede, was also pleased to hear about the new contract won by the business that her husband Paul set up with son Mark ten years ago.
