Stage show teaches Uckfield children how to save energy

Children in Uckfield are learning the importance of saving energy and recycling from a stage show touring primary schools.

East Sussex County Council's Rethink Rubbish team is travelling around the county with theatre group, Quantum Theatre.

Their two-week tour started on Monday, January 18. They are encouraging children to learn more about the environment in a fun and interactive way with their performance of ‘Bin Raiders'.

The show explores how everyone can take responsibility for the environment, highlighting everyday actions we can all take to reduce energy wastage and what's being thrown away.

Matthew Lock, Lead Member for Transport and Environment, said: "I hope the children and schools will be encouraged to take action to reduce their own impact on the environment.

“Many schools have already adopted a variety of good practices. There are always new things they might not be aware of. By looking at this issue in a fun way, we are able to show the pupils what they can do to help by recycling and saving energy."

Schools due to be visited this week included Harlands Primary School, Uckfield, and Fletching Primary School. Next week the show is due to visit Rocks Park Primary in Uckfield.
