Social media helps persuade county council to resurface Uckfield road

Social media has helped persuade East Sussex County Council to resurface parts of Downsview Crescent in Uckfield.

A resident of Hempstead Fields has been in conversation with the county’s roads departments via Twitter since Downsview Crescent was closed after a problem was found during recent gas works near a new development.

The resident tweeted @esccroads: “Any chance of re-surfacing the area nr the schools.”

The council said it was not in the current programme but the inspection team would have a look. And after a few days @esccroads said: “I reported this and confirm this section of road has been added to the resurfacing schedule for 2012.”

The full conversation can be seen below.
