Cross in Hand man dies in hospital after road accident
An 89-year-old man from Cross in Hand died in hospital on Wednesday after being involved in a road accident at Five Ashes on Tuesday.
Anthony Hinson of Back Lane, Cross in Hand, was driving south in a BMW Z4 sports car when his vehicle was in collision, at 6.10pm, with a BMW 3161 saloon car travelling in the opposite direction.
According to police his car then went across the northbound carriageway and hit some bushes and trees.
Mr Hinson was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with what were initially assessed as minor injuries but he suffered a heart attack while there and died on Wednesday afternoon.
His passenger, an 82-year-old Cross in Hand woman was taken to the same hospital for shock and neck injuries.
The driver of the other car, a 29-year-old man from Mayfield, suffered bruising but did not require hospital treatment.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We are asking anyone who was on the A267 near Cross in Hand early on Tuesday evening and who saw what happened to contact us via 101, quoting Operation Granston."
