Major plans for road resurfacing
A major programme of road resurfacing has been announced by East Sussex County Council.
Work will be carried out in Uckfield and surrounding villages, as well as across the rest of the county.
The two-years of maintenance will cost more than £23 million.
Since the snowy winter, council workers have fixed more than 30,000 potholes and this is being followed by a plan to improve the overall condition of roads in East Sussex.
Works announced for the Uckfield area:
Buxted
- Toll Road (A272) Howbourne Lane to C270 from July 26 for five days.
- Station Road (A272) Hurstwood Road to 40mph, August 6 for four days.
- High Street (A272) Gordon Road to Limes Lane, August 12 for five days.
- Pound Green Road (A272) Limes Lane to Howbourne Lane, August 19 for two days.
Hadlow Down
- Main Road (A272) C11 to C270 Five Chimneys Lane, August 2 for four days.
- Stonehurst Lane (C209) U7580, Stockland Lane to Stonehurst Lane, road closure, August 19 for three days.
Halland
- Terrible Down Road (B2192) 500m north of Shortgate, road closure, September 28 for two days.
- Beechy Road Junction (B2192) Beechy Road Jct, road closure, September 30 for one day Eastbourne Road (A22) 250m north of and to the Halland roundabout, October 4 for two days.
Uckfield
- Bypass (A22) 150m south of Blackdown roundabout for 1350m, October 6 for six days.
- The resurfacing of part of the High Street formed part of this programme, as did resurfacing at Piltdown on the A272 in April.
