Uckfield Rugby Club expands
Uckfield’s successful rugby club is seeking to provide additional changing rooms for players and match officials.
It is seeking planning permission from Wealden District Council to install a temporary, portable building at its ground, off Nevill Road.
A statement accompanying the application says the club has had a very successful season and has been promoted to the London South East division three where standards of facilities provided are higher than in the league it had been playing in.
The referees’ accommodation in the existing club house is “sub-standard” – “more akin to a cupboard than a changing room”.
The club urgently need to provide suitable referees’ accommodation for both men and women, the statement explains.
The temporary building will provide overspill space for rugby teams as well as separate space for match officials. If permission is granted, the temporary building will be placed in the car park, near to a concrete walkway round the clubhouse.
