Screwfix seeks OK for new Uckfield premises
Screwfix Direct Ltd is seeking permission to change the use of a unit on the Bellbrook Business Park.
The Yeovil-based company is planning to open in Uckfield and has already advertised for staff.
The premises it hopes to use are at Unit 1, Plot 22 Bell Lane and the company needs permission from Wealden District Council to change the use from Business class to Storage and Distribution.
A document supporting the application states Screwfix Direct is a trade counter operation aimed at local building companies.
Products are sold over the internet, via a catalogue, over the phone as well as from a trade counter, which typically occupies about ten per cent of the floorspace of a unit. “Whilst the units are advertised, this is predominantly in the trade press and is directed at tradesmen,” the document states.
