Uckfield station 'secure'
Uckfield has retained its “secure” railway station status. The station meets national standards of security for passengers and staff.
Eridge also remains officially secure. Wealden MP Charles Hendry (pictured below) said: “I am delighted to learn that both these stations have been re-accredited.
"I hope that this scheme will help protect the stations and keep them secure so that they can continue to be a safe place for passengers whilst waiting for their trains.
“We have seen a huge improvement in our rail services over recent years, although there remain problems about overcrowding and about parking at stations. With the provision of additional late-night services from London, one of the most important issues people will be concerned about is their safety and this scheme provides good reassurance.”
*Buxted and Crowborough stations are also accredited.
*A station is accredited to the scheme for two years, after which it must reapply.
*The national scheme covers all rail and underground networks which are policed by the British Transport Police (BTP).
