A skatepark event could be held in Uckfield. The idea is to be put to town councillors with the possibility of it being held in June this year or on another date next year.
The Wild in the Parks event organised by Volcom would be a day of competitions and prizes, free to enter and free to watch.
The Volcom website says: "Wild in the Parks is for young up and coming skaters to come out and show their skills. Think of the event like a best trick contest, skaters are judged on the tricks they pull."
Councillors are told in a report that similar events had been organised for four years at various locations. The last was in Mansfield and a report from the district council was positive.
Local skaters have shown enthusiasm for the idea and it is hoped to hold the event on Saturday, June 18, but if that is not possible due to tight deadlines it is suggested efforts be made to bring the event to Uckfield in 2012.
Uckfield councillors are asked to agree to the event being held.
