Permission given for six new homes in Snatts Road, Uckfield

Permission has been given for six new homes to be built on land in Snatts Road, Uckfield.

They will be three-bedroom semi-detached houses with two parking spaces for each and two visitors' parking spaces.

All will face Snatts Road.

The approved planning application, number WD/2011/0937, was submitted to Wealden Council after a previous application was withdrawn.

A design and access statement said: "After consultation with Wealden District Council it was decided that a more satisfactory proposal would be to orientate all the dwellings to face Snatts Road."

The houses will be arranged in three pairs with space between each block and "following a similar form and mass as the local environment".

"Parking is arranged to the front of the properties behind dense hedging and, therefore, screened from Snatts Road. Apart from a slight lowering at the entrance, no changes in ground levels are proposed.

"The site represents what could be seen as the last remaining undeveloped section of land in the locality, (within the Uckfield development boundary).

"The surrounding developments are mixed and varied, containing properties and gardens that compare favourably with the proposal.

"We feel that three-bedroom homes with good accommodation would satisfy the needs of a wide range of families and be the most appropriate type of property for the location."
