Access plan for St Philip's School, Uckfield, is approved
Plans for alterations to access and parking arrangements in the area of the now demolished St Michael's Convent, the Catholic Church and St Philip's Primary School in Uckfield have been approved by Wealden Council.
A previous planning application was withdrawn and the latest, WD/2011/0490, sought to overcome issues previously raised.
A letter accompanying the planning application said: "The proposed layout is for the access road to extend around the north western side of the school with parking bays and a footpath along the edge of the road.
"At this stage the access would terminate in a turning head with no vehicular access out of the site to old Timbers Lane.
"The access would however, in due course, form part of the revised access arrangements as approved.
"In effect the revised roadway design is a temporary measure allowing two-way traffic movements within the roadway, until the residential development in the wider development area is completed, after which the roadway will become one way."
Approval of the planning application is shown in documents going before the Wealden Council planning committee north which meets on Thursday.
