East Hoathly school wins 'sustainability challenge'
East Hoathly school has won a “sustainability challenge” promoted by East Sussex County Council.
The competition ran across the county and staff and pupils walked to school or sought out more sustainable ways of travelling as part of the competition in October.
They were encouraged to travel on foot part or all of the way, by joining a walking bus or by bicycle.
East Hoathly was crowned Wealden district champions for achieving a 30 per cent increase in pupils travelling by sustainable means compared to their usual choice.
They will receive a ‘mini woodland’ to brighten up the school courtesy of Plants4Presents.
Twenty-seven schools in Wealden signed up for the competition. The county-wide winner was Langney Primary School, Eastbourne.
