Uckfield council tax figures revealed

Uckfield residents living in an average Band D home will face council tax bills of nearly £1,700 in the coming year.

The bill will be made up of £1,158.30 for East Sussex County Council, £174.06 for Wealden Council, £138.42 for Sussex Police, £81.86 for East Sussex Fire and Rescue and £131.63 for Uckfield Town Council.

Wealden set its council tax last week - and increase of 2.7 per cent over the year 2009/2010 - and, as the authority which will collect the tax, revealed figures set by the other organisations.

It said the average parish/town council tax for Band D homes would be £76.07 but the figure fixed by Uckfield Town Council in January was £131.63, an increase of 1.35 per cent over the current year.

The actual figure to be paid by Uckfield residents in Band D homes will be £1,684.27.
