Seven untaxed vehicles clamped in Uckfield street
Seven untaxed vehicles were clamped and another vehicle was declared unroadworthy when a Quality Streets campaign came to Uckfield last week.
Police, fire service, DVLA and council officers joined forces to run the campaign in Uplands Close off The Drive.
The event organisers the Safer Wealden Partnership said afterwards that dozens of residents visited a stall set up on the roadside.
Police officers called at nearby homes to speak to residents about issues that cause them concern, East Sussex Fire and Rescue officers offered free home safety visits to install smoke alarms where requested and give advice about safety planning.
Wealden District Council's community enforcement officer, dog warden and recycling officer were also on hand.
Offenders on the Community Payback scheme cleared away litter, mended broken posts and removed graffiti. They were supervised by the Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust and were undertaking community sentences handed down by the local Magistrates Court.
District police commander Chief Insp Dick Coates said: "Our Quality Streets events bring partners together in one place to tackle issues which affect our communities.
"We encourage residents to come and talk to us about problems that cause them anxiety.
"We are undertaking these events every month across the district and the feedback that we have received has been really positive."
