Conservatives hold Wealden seat
Conservative Charles Hendry has been re-elected MP for Wealden increasing his share of the vote in the constituency by six per cent.
Nearly 55,000 people turned out to vote in Wealden, that is 70 per cent of the electorate and five per cent more than at the last general election in 2005.
Mr Hendry received 31,000 votes, a majority of 17,179 and 56.6 per cent of votes cast.
In second place was Liberal Democrat Chris Bowers with 13,911 votes, an increase of 0.6 per cent for the party locally and 25.3 per cent of votes cast.
Next was Labour candidate Lorna Blackmore, with 5,266 votes, 7.1 per cent fewer for the party and 9.6 per cent of votes cast.
Then came Dan Docker of the UK Independence Party with 3,319 votes, an increase of 2.2 per cent for the party and six per cent of votes cast.
Finally David Jonas of the Greens received 1,383 votes, 1.8 per cent fewer votes for the party than at the last General Election and 2.5 per cent of the total cast in Wealden.
