Uckfield school could benefit from £10,000 wildlife investment
Sussex Wildlife Trust is looking for a school in the Uckfield and Lewes area to benefit from a £10,000 investment in its grounds.
The trust won the money in the BBC quiz show Eggheads, when its Wise Owls team beat the Eggheads, and would like to improve the school grounds for the good of wildlife and to help local children connect with their natural surroundings.
Team captain Nigel Flynn who is also head of education at the Sussex Wildlife Trust said: "The trust is well-established in planning school grounds and the Eggheads prize money enables us to offer a school in the Lewes and Uckfield area the opportunity to see their grounds planned, developed and physically improved for wildlife and their pupils.
"We've previously completed similar projects in other parts of Sussex but not in the Lewes area."
As well as including environmental education days for the children, the money would also fund a training day to help teachers at the selected school best utilise the newly developed grounds.
If you would like your school to be considered for school grounds development please contact Nigel Flynn, before Monday, October 18. His email address is nigelglynn@sussexwt.org.uk or call 01273 492630. The trust's website can be found at www.sussexwt.org.uk.
