Plans to replace windows at Uckfield community college

Plans have been submitted to replace metal windows at Uckfield Community Technology College with double-glazed UPVC windows.

Documents submitted with the application say the replacement windows would be designed to match those already on the site to try to keep the overall appearance of the building the same.

"The existing windows are in a poor condition and in some cases cannot be secured and have been 'screwed' shut ... Some windows have also lost the appropriate fixings and cannot be operated correctly," documents say.

The new windows will have a 'solar reflective tinting' to reduce glare and heat transfer into classrooms which at present over heat due to a lack of sufficient ventilation.

There are also plans to replace timber windows which are in 'a poor condition' at Bonners Primary School, Maresfield, with UPVC windows. They too will have the 'solar reflective tinting'.

Both planning applications have been submitted to Wealden District Council by East Sussex County Council.
