Plans for 4,000 sq ft worm farm
Plans have been submitted to provide 4,000 sq ft of worm beds at a Halland farm.
The worms would be used to break down compostable materials into a 'high quality, sustainably produced compost' and to produce worm casts.
The compost would be marketed locally to individual customers and garden centres. Worms produced would also be sold, packed in compost and posted to the purchaser.
The application before Wealden Council was submitted by Mrs Rachel Lillywhite of Newick, for land at Oakmeadows, Knowle Lane, Halland.
A design and access statement says the worms would be fed on compost made from recycled green waste, sourced from a local company and delivered to the site.
It says there would be no odour. The main problems with vermin were from badgers and foxes and electric fencing would be used to keep them out.
