Expanded X-ray service now offered at Uckfield hospital
An expanded X-ray service will be available at Uckfield Community Hospital seven days a week from this Saturday (January 8).
The new service means that people visiting the hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit can be X-rayed on site.
When the X-ray department was open only five days a week some people had to travel elsewhere.
Sue Adams, matron at the community hospital said: “It is fantastic that we are now able to offer people an X-ray service seven days a week here in Uckfield.
"The service is already well used by the various out-patient clinics we offer, and now we can carry out X-rays from Monday to Sunday, meaning we can offer patients using the Minor Injuries Unit an even better service than before.
"Not only is this better for patients, but it is better for the NHS as it allows us to make the best use of local resources.”
The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Uckfield is open from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week.
It can help people with cuts, sprains, minor burns and other less serious injuries, such as eye infections and simple bone fractures.
There are two other MIUs in the NHS East Sussex Downs and Weald area at the Lewes Victoria Hospital and Crowborough War Memorial Hospital.
Appointments are not needed. People can walk in or telephone for advice when the units are open, 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week.
Further details are available via the East Sussex NHS website.

The NHS in East Sussex is urging local people to choose the right NHS service for what they need.
