Plans for double yellow lines on Bellbrook Business Park on hold

Plans to restrict parking at the entrance to the Bellbrook Business Park, Uckfield, have been put on hold.

In August we reported that the county council was aware of concerns about parking close to junctions and had “prioritised” the area for double yellow lines.

Now a council spokesman has said the work is likely to be affected by spending cuts.

He said: “We are aware that there is an issue with parking on the estate and parts of the area have been put on a priority list for double yellow lines.

“However, the major cuts in Government funding and the squeeze on public finances generally, mean we have had to look at all our budgets to see where we can save money.

“As we last reviewed the lines in Uckfield in 2006, it is unlikely that there will be another review for several years.

“However, if the priority changes in the future, we will look at the possibility of consulting on double yellow lines on an ad hoc basis."

Managers and owners of businesses have raised concerns about the dangers of parking with the town’s Chamber of Commerce. It is thought many of the vehicles belong to people commuting to London from Uckfield railway station.
