Two young Uckfield people receive awards from Rotary club
Two young Uckfield people have received cash awards from the town's Rotary Club towards 'making their dreams come true'.
The club announced an increase in its award fund this year to allow £1,000 for Rebecca Holman, a third year medical student and £350 for talented musician Ed Tullett.
Rebecca, a former pupils at Uckfield Community Technology College, plans to spend this summer working in a hospital for the poor in Tanzania.
She will specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology and work in the pediatric departments which will mean helping to deliver difficult babies and assisting mothers withproblems before and after the birth of their babies.
Rebecca is working long hours to help raise more money to add to the award from the Rotary club.
Ed Tullett is still a pupil at UCTC. He writes, records and performs his own music, plays in various bands and helps in the UCTC music department, often helping organise musical events.
Ed has his own music website and the Rotary club said their members were impressed to hear some of his songs.
The £350 award will help Ed by more equipment and software to expand his music career.
The Rotary Club said both young people were a credit to UCTC and to the town of Uckfield.
