Photographer's tribute to Uckfield's "Rocking Rev"
The Rev Brian Wilcox who has retired after 14 years as rector of Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, has been captured in many roles over the years by town photographer Ron Hill.
Here we look back over those years through Ron's pictures which show how "the Rev", as Ron calls him, has mixed fun with the gravitas of his role.
Ron says: "I have photographed Brian doing silly things, wearing silly hats in the most unlikely of situations and settings but I’ve also photographed him in more serious situations, weddings, Remembrance days and even funerals.
"I have tried to show that whether Brian is wearing silly hats or sitting on traction engines or even being photographed by the side of rising young rock stars the church is a very big part of the community.
"Brian has appeared on many occasions in the local press and in the Church Times and I am wondering how long it will be before I get asked by the press 'Where are your Vicar Pix'.
"The Rev Brian Wilcox very rarely turned down any request by me for a for a photo shoot and I thank him for that. It's been a real pleasure knowing him, there is only one Rocking Rev and he will be greatly missed."
