Here's my Uckfield wedding outfit

Here's my Uckfield wedding outfit

One wedding down and one to go! It was just a shame it was wet and cold for my very summery outfit, writes the Uckfield News personal shopper Julie Brice

The wedding was lovely and went without a hitch. What do you think of my outfit put together thanks to Uckfield shops, see left?

If you would like to read more about it take a look at last month's column Uckfield High Street is the place to be.

So many things to talk about this month I’m not sure where to start!

We had a friends' fund-raiser at school which proved very popular. It was a coffee, cake and art afternoon.

I bought some plain canvasses from All Sorts on the High Street (always amazed at the things they have in there) and all of our reception children painted one each.

We then invited the parents in to view the art exhibition while enjoying a cup of coffee, piece of cake and a chat.

The afternoon was so successful we are thinking of doing one for the juniors too.

Dominos are supposed to be opening the first week of June so it's worth checking their High Street shop every now and then.

Just So have had a refit and are now open for coffee and lunch promising a warm welcome.

Pepper Dining have an Elvis night on June 10. For more details see our Diary Dates section.

I've enjoyed coffee in the card and coffee shop at the bottom of town which has a great loyalty scheme, ten coffees and the 11th is free.

The only trouble is he also has lovely coffee cake and lemon drizzle and ... need I go on! Jason is quite taken by the bacon butties too.

I had a few more personal shopping challenges this month. The first one was to find a patent red bag to match a pair of shoes bought in Clarks.

I tried Kandey, Chameleon and All Wrapped Up but eventually found one in the Help the Aged store. It was a beautiful bag from Marks and Spencer’s Per Una which didn’t look as if it had been used. At £14.99 it was a bargain.

The next was a ten-year anniversary present. Ten years is Tin and so off I went in search of something different and useful that was made of tin.

I looked in the jewellers but there wasn’t anything, so I tried Carvills thinking they were sure to have a pewter trinket of some sort but again no.

I then tried All Wrapped Up and struck gold with a lovely cold drinks tin tub, shaped like an old bath, with a matching ice bucket.

I wanted to get something special too and found just the thing in Cristobel. They have some new Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz ornaments and the tin man came with a beautiful little tin man necklace inside. It was really lovely, so mission accomplished.

Now for a gift from me, I had thought of some fancy cake tins, maybe Cath Kidson or the like, and managed to find a spotty Emma Bridgewater one in the hardware shop, so that was me sorted.

Do you remember the beginning of my piano story last month? I have managed to re-home a piano and save it from the dump!

Although the new owner was fairly sure it wouldn’t fit where she wanted it the removal men did themselves proud and managed to manoeuvre it into the study where it is now being enjoyed by three very happy pianists! Thanks again Diane.

Now all I need to do is find a piano stool and a local tuner if anyone knows one?

A few weekends ago my dad came up from Somerset. It is our tradition to eat out on the Sunday so we thought we would try the Ringles Cross as my brother knew it was now doing food. We had some lovely roast dinners, with a deal on every two bought. The puddings were divine.

There was friendly service without us worrying that the children might be a bit noisy and we will definately be going again.

Jenny Harvey, of Celtic Touch Therapy, is taking rooms above the Back on Track Clinic in the Old Mill house from May 25. She offers Celtic touch therapy and plans to add to the range of treatments available.

I see two accountants now have listings in the Uckfield Directory. They are Swindells and Gentry and Balanced Accounting. I am tempted to see if they might be able to help me with my dreaded tax return!

Has anyone noticed the camper vans outside the former Pandamonium indoor play centre in Framfield Road?

Jason and I couldn’t resist walking along and taking a look.  We had a nice chat with some of the guys who told us that it will be a camper hire show room with a range of campers available to hire for weeks or weekend trips.

I already have them a customer lined up as I have been trying to persuade Nana and Grandpa to come away with us and their excuse was that the hire places were all too far away. Now they have no excuse!

My brother Nigel has completed an abseiling challenge down the tower of Guys Hospital and with others has so far raised £3695.

They are hoping to reach £4000 so if anyone would like to know more or make a donation here is a link to the Just Giving website.

Minnie, our Yorkshire terrier, is turning out to be a naughty little thing as she won’t come back when I call her so we have been to puppy training in Nutley.

This week it was outside in a field and Minnie was at a slight disadvantage as I couldn’t actually see her in the long grass!

We have practised sit, stay, come and heel. I will keep you informed of her progress!

Has anyone else noticed what a great range of handbags we have on offer in Uckfield or is it just me as I have a bag thing?

Now is the perfect time to get yourself a new summer bag. Why not try Chameleon, Kandey, All Wrapped up or Carvills to name but a few places.

Finally Ryan’s bakery and coffee shop are running an incentive scheme now why not pop in and see Daryl to find out more.
