Popular Uckfield sandwich bar re-opens this week after re-fit
Ryan's of Uckfield are to re-open on Wednesday after a re-fit.
Owners Rosie and Daryl Ryan are putting the finishing touches to their new-look sandwich bar and coffee shop, writes Cathy Watson.
There will be extra space for customers with the serving area moved to the end of the shop, a change from its previous L-shape.
There will be seating for ten rather than the current five and there will be high tables and chairs in windows at the front.
Daryl says the fare will remain the same with the emphasis on quick preparation of sandwiches and baguettes for lunchtime customers.
The shop will continue to open early from about 5.20am for commuters, builders, school children and office staff.
"Ryan's will be a place for you to come and watch the world go by, in comfortable surroundings with reasonably priced food and drink and friendly, helpful staff," said Daryl.
Look for wet suits and scooters at PipeDreams
PipeDreams had a new carpet fitted last week. Some people were shocked to see the shop empty on Tuesday but owner Julie Hobbs was quick to reassure them they would be back in action the next day.
The snow, surf and skate shop is geared up for summer now with wet suits, surf boards and body boards in stock along with summer clothing, bikinis and board shorts, flip flops and straw hats.
Julie said more people are buying wet suits these days because of the growing popularity of sea, lake and river swimming.
“More people are conscious of the sun now too and wet suits are UV protectors,” she added. “They have to fit properly so we find people do visit the High Street rather than try to buy online.”
Scooters continue to be popular. Julie said just over a year ago they didn’t have any but now they have seven different styles and lots of accessories to personalise them.
