Where to shop in Uckfield during October
The new lifestyle boutique Pilgrim launched in Uckfield High Street with a preview evening on September 12.
Jeans and tops sold particularly well that night and owner Mercedes Hall says new stock has been arriving regularly since then.
Some of the brands include Vero Moda, Ges Tuz and Postcard, a range designed with a Brighton person in mind.
Mercedes is pleased with the Monkee Genes jeans she has on sale because there are styles to suit all ages.

Name your sandwich and Ryan's will make if for you
At Ryan’s of Uckfield owners Rosie and Daryl Ryan are now selling specialty breads on a Saturday.
Their range includes sundried tomato, cheese and onion, spelt and honey, soda bread and wholemeal and white.
Sandwiches are made up on the premises as you wait – just name your favourite and they will do their best to provide it. Bacon butties are popular there.
Outside catering is also offered whether for birthday parties - for children and adults - or for funerals. If you call in Rosie and Daryl will be happy to provide more information.
Colour returns to fabrics and furnishings
Just look at the glorious colours in fabrics and furnishings arriving at Carvills in Uckfield.
Mark Arno says colour is definitely making a welcome return to many ranges with new Bloomsbury ranges from Sanderson drawing inspiration from Charleston Farmhouse near Firle. Examples can be seen below.
He said: “As well as sample books Carvills will be featuring some splendid curtains and, for the gadget or security minded, an electrically powered complimentary Roman blind in our showroom, both the curtains and blind being made up in our workshop."
A new range of Coelo painted furniture has also arrived and Mark said home accessories seem to be arriving by the day – everything from wine racks to natural stone and wooden items for the kitchen.

Help the Heroes fund-raiser to have head shaved at Ego
Hairdressers Ego are due to shave the head of one of their customers this month as she does her bit for Help the Heroes.
Jay Newlands, who runs the salon with his wife Stacey, said the fund-raiser had been warned it would take about six years for her hair to reach the same length as it is at the moment but she is determined to go ahead. “Good for her,” said Jay.
During October Ego is offering half price colour with cut and blow dry and there is a special deal on Wednesdays when 25% is knocked off the price of a cut and blow dry and it is possible to have a half head of foils with cut and blow dry for £60.

Owner Kay Bevan, who also runs the lingerie shop Tres Joli, says it is proving popular with all ages.
Quality day to evening wear is on display with new stock arriving regularly.
“There is also the bonus of state-of-the-art sun rooms upstairs,” said Kay.

“I try to find brands that are unusual but still providing value for money,” Kay added.

Kay is planning to hold an invitation evening at the end of October where customers can come into both shops and take advantage of 20% discounts. “By then we should have new occasion-wear, statement jewellery and bags in,” she said.
Lots of cakes to choose from at Courtyard Coffee Shop
When in need of a coffee or tea break it’s worth calling in at the Courtyard Coffee Shop where there are lots of cakes to choose from.
Lunches are popular there too. “Everything is fresh,” said owner Esra Baser.
Home deliveries now available from Hartfields
Hartfields Produce Store which has been selling artisan bread on Fridays and Saturdays is now stocking locally baked bread during the week too.

PipeDreams prepares a switch to winter sports
PipeDreams snow, surf and skate shop will be making the big change from summer to winter stock on October 22.
Ski-wear, snowboard clothing and accessories will be on display for winter sports from that date. Lots of sledges will be on sale too.
Surf and wet suits will still be available so do ask if you are looking for them.
