Uckfield college students show off their "extreme reading" skills

Extreme reading was the theme of a competition held at Uckfield Community Technology College and picture entries included submissions from under the sea and inside the White House.

The contest was open to both students and teachers and the winners were chosen by Mr McLachlan and Year 13 English Literature students. They were:

Students:

1st, Anna Roe (Year 10) who skewered her book on the end of a lance to enable her to read while riding a horse.

Highly Commended, Chloe McCarthy (Year 9) for the excellent juxtaposition of her composed reading next to the cowering man in the Tank Museum, Dorset.

Also Highly Commended, Lauren Swain (Year 8)  for managing to hang herself upside down from a tree.

All will receive Amazon vouchers for their entries.

Staff:

1st, Mr Bowie reading casually on the edge of the Grand Canyon. The judges liked the scale of the photograph and his apparent disregard for the natural wonder that was before him.

Highly Commended: Mr Wharne who perched on the edge of a terrifying precipice for his shot. He said it wasn't as dangerous as it looked.

The staff have been assured they will also receive fabulous prizes.
