Lord Sugar writes to pupils at Manor Primary School, Uckfield
Entrepreneur and Apprentice TV show star Lord Sugar has written to Year 6 pupils at Manor Primary School, Uckfield, congratulating them on their enterprising fund-raising efforts.
The celebrity businessman also sent a specially-signed poster to Louis Hall who came up with the idea that led to £600 being raised in one afternoon to sponsor a boy and his grandmother in the Ugandan village of Kabbubu.
Louis was also presented with a new Governors' Award for Enterprise at a leavers' assembly for Year 6 pupils at the school last week.
Business manager Ruth Martin said afterwards: “I was so proud of Louis and the Year 6 children for their enterprising approach that I wrote to Lord Sugar.
"He responded with a lovely letter of congratulations to them and an extra special signed poster for Louis which we were thrilled to be able to give him. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see him on The Apprentice one day?”
More efforts and achievements were recognised at the leavers' assembly by headteacher Margaret Coleman.
She said: “Our Leavers’ Assembly is always a bitter sweet occasion. We are sad to see the children go, but know that they will go on from strength to strength.
"It is lovely to be able to celebrate their achievements with their families and the whole school community. It was a very special day for us all.”
Awards included Girl of the Year which went to Ailsa Bramly and Boy of the Year, Nahin Farhan.
Thanks to Ron Hill for the pictures.
