Eastbourne Speedway fans get first chance to quiz promoters

Eastbourne Speedway fans get their first chance to quiz the new Eagles’ promoting team on Saturday.

A supporters’ meeting is being held at the stadium clubhouse at Arlington from 7pm when co-promoters Mike Bellerby and Trevor Geer will host a “Meet Mike and Trevor” night.

Rider Cameron Woodward is expected to attend and is set to be unveiled as club captain.

A club spokesman said: “This will, of course, offer fans the ideal opportunity to pose all those questions that they would like answered to the Eastbourne hierarchy, outline their hopes and fears for the year ahead and generally share the club’s ambition and aspiration for the 2010 Elite League campaign and beyond.”

In conjunction with the evening get-together, Bellerby has announced the discount offer on season tickets (details at www.elite-eagles.com) for 2010 has been extended until Saturday giving supporters further opportunity of saving money heading into the new campaign.

Should anybody, whether individually or in groups, still be looking to join Eagles innovative fund-raising 100 Club, both Mike and Trevor will be delighted to speak to them, at Saturday’s meeting.

They will also be talking to fans interested in re-forming a supporters’ club. Admission to Eagles ‘Meet Mike and Trevor’ evening is free and the clubhouse bar will be open to serve drinks and refreshment.

Bellerby is certainly looking forward to the event and a positive evening in the company of the club’s valued supporters.

“We can look upon this as our first social engagement of the season, ahead of Eastbourne’s official tapes up against the Peterborough Panthers on March 20.

‘I am very excited about the battles ahead and although our chances have again already been written off in certain quarters, Bob (Dugard), Trevor and I remain firm in our belief that the Eagles are in for a good year.

“Obviously, there is still much work to do before a wheel is turned in anger."

He hinted at the prospect of some imminent and “very exciting news” in the pipeline but declined to be drawn further.

“Everything seems to be coming together nicely. “We are looking forward to getting cracking with the new season and we very much hope that our supporters are too.”

The first Sky meeting against Peterborough will now be on Wednesday, April 28, and not Monday, April 26.
