Live phone in for speedway fans

Fans of Eastbourne Speedway will be able to take part in a live fans’ phone-in on BBC Radio Sussex next week.

The Lifestyle Eagles are delighted to have secured a slot on Wednesday (March 17) between 7.05 and 8pm on the radio station.

The format for the programme will initially take the form of a general discussion with the Eagles contingent of Trevor Geer, Mike Bellerby and Cam Woodward outlining their hopes and aspirations for the season ahead.

But the session will be quickly handed over to the supporters to have their views and inquiries broadcast over the airwaves.

The number for fans to ring in on to pitch their questions is 08459 570057, the lines will open at 7pm on the evening.

Alternatively people can text from the same time to 07786 207070 or if preferred they can e-mail the station on sussexsport@bbc.co.uk

It will also be possible to book a call ahead of the broadcast, to exercise that option, supporters are urged to e-mail sussexsport@bbc.co.uk at anytime between now and next Wednesday, giving a home or mobile number to contact and the station will ring them back on the night.

BBC Sussex not only broadcasts on frequencies 95.3FM, 104.5FM and 104.8FM, but also via the internet at http://www.bbc.co.uk/sussex/local_radio

Club spokesman Kevin Ling said: “We welcome the exposure that this broadcast can offer with speedway supporters across the globe able to tune in.

Fans listening will surely include a number of ‘ex-pat’ Eagles die-hards from seasons gone by.

“Club skipper Cameron Woodward is apparently particularly delighted that the broadcast will allow family and friends in his Australian homeland to listen to him on the radio.”

The club has been working hard in recent weeks to forge closer links with the media in Sussex.

Approaches have also been made to commercial radio stations and to newspapers outside the immediate Eastbourne area.

On Saturday (March 13), the club holds its press and practise day at Arlington from 11am to 3pm – on-track action is due to start around noon. There is no admission charge.

The first match is a week on Saturday (20th) when the Eagles take on Peterborough in a challenge fixture.
