Marco Pierre White pulls a pint at his Maresfield pub
Here is a picture of Marco Pierre White pulling pints at The Chequers pub, Maresfield, where he aims to create "an eating, drinking and sleeping experience which is unrivalled in its Englishness". He is also pictured below with locals.
The celebrity chef is working with Powder Train, an independent company which has owned the pub since 2006, to roll out his recently acquired Wheelers of St James brand.
The new menu includes some Marco Pierre White staples such as potted duck with prunes d'argent, smoked haddock fishcake with curried mayonnaise and braised belly pork Marco Polo with butter beans. Puddings include rice pudding with a raspberry compote and clafoutis of blueberries.
A spokeswoman for the celebrity chef told Uckfield news that the Wheelers brand is focused on "reincarnating the fine and honest eating experiences of Marco's nostalgically remembered London".
Powder Train co-owners Jack Bowyer and David Butcher said: "This is one of the most exciting projects we've worked on to date and we have waited some time for a supreme operator to help us put the heart and soul back into this lovely building.
"Marco's vision is renowned and will suit our locals and passers by, no doubt also attracting a following from London who want to escape to the country."
The chef at Maresfield is Neil Thornley who helped Marco establish the Yew Tree Inn near Highclere Castle in Berkshire.
