Uckfield bowls players win cup
Uckfield bowls players were presented with the Wickers Cup yesterday for the second time in two years.
The team won the final of a competition, played against Wealden, by 17 points to 14. The venue was the Buxted Park Bowls Club.
Members of the winning team included Stuart Blease, Penny Pidgeon, Brenda Stanley and Andy Clews.
Playing for Wealden were Jill Flint, Jennifer Gleaves, Peter Gleaves and Peter Flint.
Bowlers Alf and Bill Wickham, not relatives but both from Five Ash Down, started the competition stipulating that the final always be held at Buxted Bowls Club with teams consisting of two men and two ladies.
