Seventy business people enjoy wine and networking in Maresfield
About 70 guests from businesses in the Uckfield area attended a wine and cheese event organised by Marco Pierre White's Chequers Inn at Maresfield last week.
Businesses ranged from accountants to polo event organisers.
There was a glass of bubbly on arrival and the guests were given a tour of the inn before being seated in the lower restaurant and a new private dining/conference room/wine room, Cellier á Vin, pictured above.
Wine connoisseur Sam Patten from Lion Nathan introduced six of their wines from three different wineries and and cheeses were provided by West Horsley Dairy to compliment the flavours.
Dairy manager Chris Newsome was there to talk about the cheeses which came from the High Weald Dairy in Horsted Keynes; artisan cheese makers Alsop & Walker; Bookham Fine Foods, Arlington and Nut Knowle Farm, Horam.
General manager at the Chequers, Chris Hanks, who was delighted with the turnout said: "Tonight was about thanking our regular businesses for their on-going support and to show off our rooms, menus and offerings to those who haven't visited us since Marco took over in the summer of 2010.
"I hope by the comments that have been made tonight we might have persuaded everyone who attended to come back in the very near future."
* The Chequers is organising a charity dinner in aid of Canine Partners on Thursday, October 13. It is to include a six-course menu featuring game meat of the season.
