Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White hosts charity dinner at Maresfield
Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White hosted a charity dinner and auction on Monday night at his Chequers Hotel, in Maresfield, in aid of ten-year-old Georgia Allen, who is fighting an ongoing battle with Charcot Marie Tooth, a rare debilitating nerve condition.
The event raised more than £7,000 with all the money going towards Georgia’s treatment which currently falls outside of NHS funding.
Marco announced that this will become a Georgia Allen annual event.
He said: “Georgia touched my heart at a book-signing. She is a very special little girl - this evening is about putting a smile on her face and taking some of the pressure of her mother who works so hard for Georgia and in raising awareness for CMT across the county – we will continue to support them – it’s not much, but it gives me pleasure to be able to help in some small way.”
Star items in the auction included an Andy Warhol-style painting of Marco by Georgia and a cooking master class with Marco and Georgia in London for ten people.
Georgia is a pupil at Bonners primary school, Maresfield.
Georgia’s family will also be donating a percentage of the funds raised at the auction to the CMT UK fund.
