120 children take part in Uckfield cross country event
Six schools from the Uckfield area entered 120 pupils in a cross country event at Rocks Park Primary School last week.
The schools involved were St Phiips, Manor, Holy Cross, Rocks park, Framfield and Little Horsted.
Manor won the girls event with a score of 13. The winners were: 1 Amber Young, Little Horsted; 2 Issy Flower, Manor and 3 Emily Chevassul, Little Horsted. Runners up were Little Horsted school with 14 points and third was Rocks Park with 29 points.
In the boys event St Philips won with 13 points. The runners up were Manor with 17 points and Holy Cross was third with 30 points. Rocks park were fourth with 31 points.
The winners were: 1 Jack Harris from St Philips, 2 Josh Stafford, Rocks Park and Sean Bate, St Philips.
The overall school event was won by Manor with 30 points. Second was St Philips, 52 points; third, Little Horsted, 59 points; fourth, Rocks Park, 60 points.
Children in the first 15 places of each race will go on to represent Uckfield in the next round of the competition, the Wealden District Cross Country, which will take place in February at Beacon School, Crowborough. Each received certificates and will begin their next round of training at Uckfield Community Technology College shortly.
UCTC students and Year 6 pupils from Rocks Park School were thanked for marshalling the Uckfield event.
