Uckfield and Buxted Scouts do well in hiking competition
Scouts from Uckfield and Explorers from Buxted took top places in an Overland Hike competition around the South Downs at the weekend.
There was a 26-mile route to be negotiated over two with multiiple checkpoints and overnight camping.
Incidents and tasks at the checkpoints tested Scouting skills and knowledge.
In the Scout section Tim Bramly, Maysie Coe, Jed Mills and Connie Swaysland from 4th Uckfield Alpha Scouts took second place.
The Explorer section was won by Rachel Moisan, Olivia McCarthy, Alasdair Ross and Katy Wells from the 272 Explorer Unit, based in Uckfield. They beat 19 other teams.
In our photograph, taken by Ron Hill, the Explorers are in the front row and the Scouts back.
