Gala day as Uckfield-based horse rescue trust closes for winter
Sussex Horse Rescue Trust which had considered moving out of Uckfield has confirmed it will be staying in the town.
Developers had approached the trust offering to buy the land but have now pulled back and after a winter break the trust will be opening to the public again at Easter 2012.
A gala event was held at the weekend at the trust’s premises at Hempstead Farm, Hempstead Lane, to mark the end of the 2011 season.
Dr Jim Oliver, who is pictured above, opened proceedings then went on a guided tour of the trust facilities before mingling with visitors.
There were stalls, sponsored animals, pony rides, tombola and teas with snacks.
A tack sale is due to take place in the walled garden at the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust on Saturday, September 17.
Thanks to Ron Hill for the photograph.
