Volunteers trim growth from base of historic trees in Uckfield
Volunteers set to work in Lime Tree Avenue, Uckfield, on Saturday to trim growth from the base of historic lime trees.
Members of Lime Aid were taking part in Make a Difference Day. They also collected litter and cut back summer growth over the footpath.
One hundred lime trees line Lime Tree Avenue, an ancient track which once led to Uckfield House, which has long since been demolished.
About one third of the trees were trimmed by ten volunteers. It is hoped more volunteers will come along to another task day on January 28, 2012.
If you would like to take part please contact Martyn Stenning on 07759 722655.
Thanks to Ron Hill for the photograph of the Lime Aid volunteers.
