Sixty in sponsored walk to 'Bring Oliver Home' to Uckfield
More than 60 people took part in a sponsored walk yesterday to raise funds to bring a man home from hospital to be cared for by his Uckfield parents.
Oliver Bennett received a serious head injury in a hit and run accident on June 7, 2009, when he was 26 years old. He now needs 24-hour care and lives in a nursing home in Eastbourne.
Oliver's parents Andrew and Gillian travel from Uckfield to Eastbourne every day to see him but are trying to raise funds to build an extension to convert their property so Oliver can come home.
The sponsored walk was organised by Oliver's aunt Annabelle who wants to raise awareness of the problem and some money to help the cause.
She is pictured here, front left, with Andrew and Gillian. Also pictured are some of the walkers. Thanks to Ron Hill for the photographs.
