Uckfield people help improve quality of life for the over 50s.
Uckfield residents have been involved in shaping a strategy to improve the quality of life for people over the age of 50.
More than 350 people in East Sussex attended four 50+ Focus events at Eastbourne, Uckfield, Hastings and Newhaven. A picture from the Uckfield session can be seen below.
They were jointly organised by the county council and East Sussex Seniors’ Association (ESSA) and gave people an opportunity to help improve the quality of life for people over 50.
Senior managers outlined how adult social care and health will be working closely in the future to provide effective services.
There were also a range of information stalls and a knowledge café with tables covering different issues and themes.
Keith Hinkley, the Director of Adult Social Care, who gave a presentation, said: “We work very closely with organisations such as ESSA to ensure the support and information we provide help people live a full and independent life. The more we can work with people who use our services and hear what their priorities and concerns are the more effective the outcome will be”.
Ron Sunderland, chairman of ESSA said: “All our members were given an opportunity to attend one or more of the events so this has ensured that older people’s views are involved in shaping future services”.
A report on the meetings will be published in May.
